How does ultrasound diagnosis work?
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create black & white images of internal cavities and organs, which enable our experienced vets to look inside pets’ living organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, and bladder.
Ultrasound scans are a completely safe and non-invasive way for our veterinary surgeons to see what’s going on inside animals in more detail, to help diagnose health problems. The ultrasound images are available immediately, which is key to a speedy diagnosis.
Our vets also use ultrasound to assist them when taking needle biopsies of internal organs, checking for bladder stones, and to monitor pet pregnancies.
Gentle diagnosis of internal pet health problems
Ultrasound scans are usually performed by our vets on conscious patients, however, we will occasionally use light sedation if appropriate. Our fully qualified nursing team will be caring for your pet during their ultrasound scan to ensure they remain calm and comfortable.
